Wisconsin’s Best Days Are Yet to Come

January 1, 2011 in Optimism

There is reason to be optimistic about the future of our state. We have remarkable opportunities in front of us. Although there are many issues and political problems to deal with, each problem also represents an opportunity to make a change for the better in our society.

The federal government’s rampant militarism is an opportunity for the people of Wisconsin to take the moral high ground and take actions that will lead to a more peaceful world.

The systemic corruption of our monetary system provides us the opportunity to seriously debate the fundamentals of our economy and ask profound questions about monetary control. We have the opportunity to return power over money to the people, for the benefit of all, rather than allowing well connected insiders to continue stealing from everyone.

On every issue, from abusive domestic surveillance policies and the loss of our civil liberties to corporate backed legislation that threatens small business and small farms, our problems are opportunities to define the type of society we want to have.

There will be no magic solution from Washington to all of our issues. Our system was never meant to be administered by an all-powerful central government. It is time for people to put “self-governance” into practice and restore the local control and balance of power that made our nation great. This is our greatest opportunity.

The creativity and resourcefulness of the human spirit is nearly endless. Every day people are realizing that solutions will ultimately come from ourselves and that those solutions are both tangible and feasible.  Each individual can have a significant impact. It is time for bold steps, both in our personal lives and in our state and local governments, that lead to a more free, peaceful and prosperous future for Wisconsin while providing a positive example to the rest of the nation.

WisconsinRepublic.org will continue to promote education and discussion about these issues and work for locally acountable government in Wisconsin. We welcome you to join us. With people increasingly dedicated to honest and locally accountable government, Wisconsin’s future is bright indeed.

Beyond the High-Speed Rail Debate: Blackmailed With Our Own Money

December 15, 2010 in Economy

Perhaps the train would have been beneficial to our state? Perhaps it would have been another drain on the increasingly cash strapped taxpayer? Whatever your position, Wisconsin citizens should be insulted by being blackmailed with their own money by Washington. The federal government has nothing but what it takes from the people. It’s not as if it can magically give out “free money.” Washington uses its control of finances to manipulate state behavior, much like parents with their children. This is at best a childish paternalism and in a supposedly self-governing society more like back-door authoritarianism.

Wisconsin should be in charge of deciding for itself how to use its funds. The budget should not be hijacked by bureaucrats a thousand miles away. If we want a train, let’s build a train. If we need new roads, let’s build roads. We are capable of managing quite well on our own. While the district of criminals focuses on its priorities of occupying foreign countries and bailing out corrupt corporations, Wisconsin will focus on taking care of itself. We should begin to seriously pursue policies that decrease our reliance on the federal government.

Mafia Government

December 14, 2010 in Agriculture

Food recalls due to undercooked meat and e.coli bacterial infections are common from the nation’s largest distributors. They have the potential of sickening hundreds of thousands of people each time. Here are two recent examples:
ConAgra has recalled all Marie Callender’s brand Cheesy Chicken & Rice frozen meals because they are contaminated with salmonella:

Campbell Soup Co. is recalling 15 million pounds of SpaghettiOs with meatballs after a cooker malfunctioned at one of the company’s plants in Texas and left the meat undercooked:

Large politically connected corporations like this won’t get so much as a fine for endangering the health of thousands. However, small farmers who are not “part of the family” are not so fortunate. A small local farm that provides food for 100 people and does not sicken anyone… simply unacceptable. They will have there property destroyed and their business shut down for daring to compete with the large multinationals.

The mafia works by intimidating and shutting down competition there by creating monopoly profits for the insiders. In the past, the mafia operated by using strong-men to extort protection money or threaten other businesses. Today the corporate mafia uses the government, which it controls, as their strong-man to shut down their competition.

“Dairy State” Works to End Natural Milk Production

December 14, 2010 in Agriculture

Humans have been drinking milk from animals for thousands of years, long before high-tech practices of pasteurization and homogenization. Ironically “The Dairy State” now only has a handful of farms that are still producing milk that is not subject to alteration. Many people desire to consume products that are not commercially produced, genetically modified, filled with hormones, pesticides and antibiotics and stripped of many of their nourishing properties. Such products are available throughout the world. One would think that in a free country an adult could decide to purchase these natural products without interference from their government. However, our modern day rulers continue to treat the people like children and dictate what food they can and cannot eat.

People who care about the future of sustainable, local agriculture and of the preservation of the last vestiges of a free market should take notice of the state’s heavy handed attempts to shut down the last remaining raw milk producers in Wisconsin. People may also be alarmed about the state’s lack of respect for the integrity of private contracts. Interested persons can read this copy of a letter sent from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture to the owner and operator of Grazin Acres LLC, a small family run operation near Loganville, Wi that works to provide natural foods from their farm to their members.

Whether or not you have or would ever consume raw dairy, everyone is encouraged to contact their representatives and stand up for the basic freedom of deciding for ourselves what type of food will go into our bodies.
