Memorial Day 2012

This display was put together by "Veterans for Peace" in Olbrich Park in Madison. The lake at the end of the video looks across at the Wisconsin State Capitol. This provides an interesting comparison between the veterans who stand for peace and our leaders who seem to care less. It is time our state reps take notice and start standing on principle.

Today is a day to reflect on the sacrifices that have been made by our armed forces and to consider the responsibility we have to ensure that they are only placed in harms way if absolutely necessary, and strictly for defensive purpose. Your thoughts and reflections are welcome.

Did you notice that Wisconsin was a Blue State? Secessionism should only happen when the government of the Union does an injustice against the state that wants to break away. Losing an election is hardly a reason to secede. If a fair election in which our own state voted overwhelmingly to return President Obama back to office justifies your cause, we, all of us, should really fear for our future because of the ignorance of our citizenry in this state. You have the right to speak your opinion, but it is an ignorant argument that fails to recognize the healing that we need as a people.

I'm all for secession...but can we wait until a Republican is elected President before we do it?

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your comments. It seems you may not have read much on this site before posting though.

First of all, this labeling of a state as red or blue misses the whole point of what we are discussing here. Left and right do not serve as a useful distinction when neither party has significant differences on civil liberties, militarism or monetary policy.

People need to take a step back from partisan politics and look at the big picture of what is going on. If you would like our perspective on what is going on please read our feature articles on "freedom" "peace" and "prosperity."

Then, if you would like to see what we DO propose as solutions check out the "action" section. These are starting points for discussion.

Amen! Too many people are caught up in the Republicrat vs Demoblican battle to really see the full issues. Who cares if a Republican or a Democrat is President? What's the point? It seems we have grandiose ideas of what a President can constitutionally accomplish, or what difference one President can have on the grand scheme of things. We need to stop participating in the partisan blame game and start focusing on our rights as Americans and as human beings -- secession being one of them. Liberty first -- political affiliations should be tagging along far in the rear. Personally, I'm sick of politics. What I'm interested in is freedom -- and that should be the priority of every American in every state, rather than the Red vs Blue sham.
